Grisedale Cottage in Glenridding has everything to make the perfect Lake District holiday. It is a traditional 18th century Lakeland cottage which now provides charming and comfortable self catering holiday accommodation for up to five people.
The holiday cottage is situated in a small community of cottages at Grisedale Bridge, midway between the villages of Glenridding and Patterdale. A lovely, quiet location at the heart of the Ullswater valley, with village shops, pubs, cafes, medical centre, local post office, garage and petrol station and an internet cafe all within walking distance. This idyllic location in the Ullswater valley means that you can enjoy inspiring mountain views, glimpses of the lake and real peace and quiet.
From the cottage door you can walk, cycle or climb the surrounding majestic fells without moving your car ... Helvellyn, Fairfield, St Sunday Crag and the High Street range all offer a challenging day out and there are numerous valley and woodland walks as well as the lakeshore path along Ullswater. Or you can just relax in the garden or in the conservatory and enjoy the wonderful Lakeland scenery.

Grisedale Cottage is surrounded by mountains and lakes. Everywhere you look there are glimpses of the Lakeland fells and lakes ~ inspiring at any time of year. The Cottage itself is a comfortable and well equipped traditional Lakeland cottage; a real home-from-home from which you can explore the Lake District.
A stone built porch leads into the cosy lounge where you can relax in comfort in the evenings and plan your days out. The attractive lounge has a beamed ceiling and a Lakeland stone fireplace with a multi fuel stove and an electric storage heater. There is a television with DVD player and a CD player with a choice of DVDs and CDs for you to use. There is also a good selection of local books, walking guides and magazines for you to use to plan your days out. The cottage also has a payphone for incoming and outgoing calls. Vodafone is the only mobile network which works here!
The modern, well equipped oak kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. From the kitchen window, you can enjoy the peaceful views of the garden. The kitchen leads into an internal hall where there is a sauna and shower room. This hall leads into the light and airy conservatory at the back of the house. This overlooks the garden and has a large dining table and cosy chairs so that you can relax after a long day in the hills. Or you can escape everyone else and enjoy some real peace and quiet. On the ground floor there is a spacious double bedroom with an en-suite toilet and wash basin. This lovely bedroom is well fitted with a wardrobe and chest of drawers and there is an electric storage heater for those cooler nights. Bed linen is provided and all the beds will be made up for your arrival.
The stairway from the lounge leads upstairs where there is a twin bedroom and a single bedroom. Both have electric storage heaters and are well equipped. The main bathroom is also upstairs and has a bath with a shower, a WC and a wash hand basin. Next door is the drying room where you can dry washing or damp outdoor gear.
The enclosed garden is at the back of the cottage and has good views of the surrounding fells. It is reached via the conservatory and has a patio area, a central lawn and another seating area at the back of the garden. Ideal for warm sunny evenings or for the kids to let off steam. There is parking outside the cottage for one car; second car by arrangement. There is storage for bikes and other equipment in the garden shed.
Additional information: Price includes bed linen, fuel for the stove in the lounge and most electricity charges. The cottage has a sauna for guests use which is operated by a coin meter. Short breaks may be available, please enquire with the owner.
