Located in a fantastic position within the very heart of the beautiful Lake District National Park, this delightful traditional quaint 18th century stone terraced holiday cottage provides self catering accommodation for up to four guests in two bedrooms.
The cottage is situated in the little hamlet of Edinboro, on the edge of Ambleside in a peaceful hillside setting above Stock Ghyll Force where you can enjoy the glorious views to Wansfell Pike and Louhrigg and listen to the famous waterfall from the cottage garden.
Whilst this provides the perfect relaxing setting, it is also close to local amenities with the small friendly market town of Ambleside being just a five minute walk. Ambleside is nestled amongst the fells of Loughrigg, Fairfield and Wansfell, at the head of Lake Windermere and here you will find the Tourist Information Centre, late night Spar and Coop, butchers, bakeries, post office, fish n 'chip shops, pubs, excellent restaurants, cafes, cinema, bars with live music, interesting little shops, banks and museums. You can also take boat trips on Lake Windermere from Ambleside and buses (open top in summer!) to other lakes and attractions, making this a good location for people who want to leave the car at home.
This is an ideal base for touring, climbing and walking with wonderful walks from the front door. You can choose to simply relax, enjoy spectacular hikes or take an easy walk by the lakes to Grasmere or Rydal, or go over Wansfell to Troutbeck. Alternatively climb Red Screes, Fairfield Horseshoe or Loughrigg.
Whether you are looking for a touring base to explore the Lake Districts, a walking holiday, a holiday destination you can enjoy without having to use a car or you simply want to relax - Birch Cottage is an ideal location.
Additional cottage sleeping 6 (in three bedrooms) available in the Lake District National Park - The owner has an additional holiday cottage available to rent that is located amongst spectacular scenery within the heart of the Lake District (three miles from Grasmere and just over four miles from Ambleside by road). Again the perfect place to relax, to use as a base for exploring the area or to enjoy a walking holiday.
