"It felt like a New England home loved how light and bright it was!" Sarah & Paul Southampton
"We really enjoyed our stay with you in what we think is one of the most idyllic locations we could imagine. It was quiet and peaceful but with everything we might have needed not too far away. We did not mange to see the deer but could smell them! We did however manage to see a pair of Tawny owls in the trees outside one evening / night time - we were up with the teething 4 month old, but seeing the owls made it worth while. We were also visited every morning by a pair of Jays which was very nice also."

I would just like to say thank you very much for letting us rent your lovely lodge. We had a really wonderful stay, you have a very beautiful place there, and in such lovely surroundings.

Hello Alan, I enjoyed my stay at your lovely property very much. We had a mix of weather as one expects in the Lakes but several bright, breezy days which were ideal for walking. I presume you know that there is a badger run into the wood directly opposite your door? It must be feeding young at the moment as it is unusual to see badgers when it is still light - this one came right on to the terrace to eat some bread I had put out for birds. The next two evenings it came at the same time to eat a stale scone! Quite delightful to watch.

Your home is beautifully appointed and was spotless, (we were most impressed with the gold cutlery!) Seriously though, we had a wonderful time and would like to return in the future. In fact we made friends with a couple who live in the village. I think it is fair to say, we could not speak highly enough, not only of your home but the area as a whole.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you very much for opening up the Panopitcon to us. We had a fantastic time in the lake district (we even ventured off to the Yorkshire dales and made a day-trip to York), and the Panopticon provided a perfect (and very relaxing) base for our activities. We were lucky to have some fantastic weather - allowing us to make good use of the patio. We will certainly recommend the place to any friends venturing north!

Hi Alan, yes, we had a great time in the Lake District and the bed wasn’t an issue at all. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Panopticon and it was great only being a few minutes from Grange over Sands. One evening we strolled to the hotel next door and had a lovely meal at a very reasonable price. Andy asked at the little shop campsite on Sunday for newspapers and they said they would order papers for us which could be useful for other guests. Of course we enjoyed all the lake cruises and especially enjoyed a trip to the Zoo at Keswick (called Trotters I think). They had really entertaining birds of prey talk and all the animals are really well kept and visible too!
Thank you for your letting us use your beautiful cottage
