Ruby's Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed holiday cottage which is part of a former mill on the outskirts of the attractive old market town of Sedbergh. It is the perfect base from which to explore both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and is conveniently located just five miles from the M6 Motorway where these two popular tourist destinations meet.
Although in Cumbria, Sedbergh is officially in the western fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making all the attractions of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales within easy reach. It also has the added bonus of having the 'Howgills' (the surrounding fells that Wainwright called the 'Sleeping Elephants') on the doorstep.
This quieter area is more akin to Lakeland but with very good access to the Yorkshire Dales, the nearest being Garsdale, Dentdale and Wensleydale. For the dedicated walkers amongst you, Ingleborough, Whernside and Penyghent are close by and the 'Howgills' are on the doorstep just waiting to be explored from the cottage. There are also beautiful less strenous low level walks by four rivers - the Rawthey (50 yards from the cottage), the Dee (Dentdale), the Clough (Garsdale) and the Lune, all set amongst magnificent scenery. For those who enjoy fishing, you are able to purchase a fishing permit locally.
The Eastern Lakeland fells (Haweswater, Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Askham, Martindale etc...) are just a thirty minute drive away. When you have exhausted all the local area then the Lakes and Dales Tourist Information centre in the town offers a whole host of Visitor attractions for both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales including: National Trust Craft Centres Gardens; Castles Leisure Centres; Houses; Riding; Canoeing; Fishing; Cycling; Mountain Climbing; Cafes, Restaurants and Pubs and as previously mentioned wonderful walks for both the experienced and the beginner.
Sedbergh with its olde world atmosphere, is the largest market town in the Yorkshire Dales. The town is full of character with its historic houses and cobbled streets and has a wide range of shops, eating establishments and amenities for every day needs including a Farmers Market on a Wednesday once a month offering wonderful local produce.

Situated on the edge of the market town of Sedbergh, this delightful holiday cottage has been refurbished to a high standard, to which the stone flagged floors give an authentic feel to this 1835 cottage.
Accommodation comprises:
Lounge furnished with comfortable sofas and the recent addition of a multifuel cast iron stove adds to the cosiness.
Dining area with oak table and chairs and dresser.
Superb kitchen with fitted oak units, Belfast sink, granite work surfaces and a full range of AEG appliances.
Upstairs there is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom - all beds with interior sprung mattresses and carpet to the floor.
Bathroom with a modern suite, an over bath shower and glass shower screen.
Outside: There is a small seating area by the beck (stream) and to the front there is off road parking for one vehicle. Extra parking is available across the road if required.
Additional information: All Weekly Prices are inclusive of bed linen, bath/hand/tea towels, all electricity and fuel for the fire. (bed linen & towels are not included in three and four night stays).
