Hideaway Cottage is an attractive Grade II listed barn conversion situated between Grange over Sands and the picturesque village of Cartmel.
The cottage provides spacious holiday accommodation with luxurious furnishings, exposed beams, a lovely log fire, two large patio areas for al fresco dining and magnificent views across Morecambe Bay (see photos below). It is ideal for families and friends seeking a relaxing break in a beautiful location on the fringes of the Lake District.
The cottage is set in a quiet and tranquil position overlooking open farmland with panoramic views across the sea and sands of Morecambe Bay. From the door of the cottage itself don’t miss the impressive walk up Hampsfell with its magnificent 360 degree views over the Lakeland Fells, the Howgills, the Pennines and Morecambe Bay – even as far as the Isle of Man on a clear day.
A mile down the lane is the resort of Grange over Sands – popularized in the Edwardian era for its microclimate – where the sun can shine when it is pouring with rain in the central Lake District! Stroll along the promenade, visit the award winning local shops and eat at one of the many cafes, pubs and restaurants. For the kids there are adventure playgrounds, a putting green, crown green bowling and tennis courts.
Just a mile in the other direction is the picture postcard village of Cartmel with its 12th Century priory, gift shops and a selection of eateries including Simon Rogan’s internationally acclaimed L’Enclume restaurant and the newly opened Rogan’s wine bar. Cartmel is also famous for its racecourse with three meetings held each year, and of course the world famous Cartmel sticky toffee pudding.
The cottage is ideally placed for exploring the southern Lake District with the south shore of Windermere only a fifteen minute drive away. From here cruises depart for Bowness and Ambleside, or visit the Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Also on the shore of Windermere are the National Trust gardens at Fell Foot Park, an ideal family day out with rowing boat hire and lake swimming.
For walkers the Southern fells are readily accessible – and for cyclists the cottage is on the W to W cycle way, and for mountain bikers, Grizedale Forest is within easy driving distance.
Just ten minutes away on the Cartmel peninsula is Holker Hall with 125 acres of formal and woodland gardens, and including the Lakeland Motor Museum and the Campbell Bluebird exhibition. And if you like halls and gardens try the Elizabethan Levens Hall, with its amazing topiary and Sizergh Castle, both only fifteen minutes away.
For those wishing to explore further afield – the villages on the Cumbria/Yorkshire border make for interesting day trips – Sedbergh, the book town; Ingleton for its caves, waterfalls and walking; and Kirkby Lonsdale for its shopping and views.

We were all bowled over with Hideaway Cottage. The house is cosy as well as spacious and beautifully furnished. The location is perfect and very peaceful. We will certainly hope to make a return visit.
We've fallen in love with Hideaway Cottage and truly don't weant to leave. This amazing cottage in this perfect location has given us a week we will never forget. The peace and quiet was wonderful and the cottage had a very welcome, homely feel. Hideaway cottage is something special and we will miss being here so much. Thank you for such an amazing holiday.
What a wonderful cottage, felt as though we had a new home. Enjoyed sitting in the garden and on the patio. We loved the local villages and food in the pubs and cafes excellent. Hopefully we will be back again.

A real surprise when we walked through the door. Home from home, not the small rented cottage we usually stay at. So much space. Ideal for a 3yr old too - toys, hiding places etc. You've been so thoughtful when it comes to the facilities on offer. Certainly the best and cosiest 'cottage' we've stayed in.

One of the nicest and most well equipped holiday homes we've ever stayed in - a lovely property with views to calm the soul. The little suntrap off the kitchen wonderful for morning coffee and newspapers.
Hideaway Cottage proved to be absolutely perfect for us. A real home from home. Very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and equipped. Such an interesting house and somewhere we instantly felt at home. Given the ideal location and brilliant property, there's no doubt we'll be back.
