Swynnerton is just a five minute walk to the centre of Hay on Wye and accommodates parties of up to ten guests in five bedrooms. It is an ideal place for friends or families who want to holiday together or celebrate a special occassion.
It is located the Victorian village of Cusop, which sits next to the famous book town of Hay on Wye, within Hereforedshire. Cusop is the name of the English half of the town which is split by the border which is formed by the Dulas Brook.
Built in the 1890’s, Swynnerton formerly housed the Rector of Cusop and it sits just one hundred yards from the Dulas. Its location is ideal for those who want to eat out and explore the famous town of Hay on Wye that sits on the Welsh/English borders. A popular destination for both book lovers and holiday makers, Hay on Wye offers a good selection of pubs, restaurants, shops, leisure activities and spectacular scenery.
Swynnerton itself is still laid out roughly as it was back in Victorian times and has been decorated and furnished in a complementary style, with a few added refinements. It has a wonderful feel with high ceilings and sash windows throughout, and most of the floors are stripped to their original stone or woodwork.
It is a large house with lots of different areas which can be disorienting. For those without the en suite bathroom, you may want to pace out the midnight trip to the toilet beforehand!
Without exception previous guests appear to have had lots of fun in Swynerton and it is ideal for a range of users including: birthday parties, large family get-togethers, book reading clubs, ramblers or just groups of friends enjoying some time together.
There’s enough space for a couple of families to enjoy a holiday together without getting under each others feet and there are plenty of things to see and do in Wales and the National Parks of the Black Mountains and the Brecons, along with rural Herefordshire and Shropshire.
