About The Bakehouse

The Bakehouse is a romantic retreat for two, ideally located next to the village inn close to the Welsh borders in the pretty 'black and white' Herefordshire village of Eardisley. As the name suggests, The Bakehouse used to supply the village with bread, and today still retains lots of character with the original bread oven in the sitting room and beams on the ceiling. A beautiful part of England, often known as ‘The Welsh Marches’, this peaceful setting offers all the right ingredients for a relaxing holiday. There is a pretty large garden (with fabulous views that stretch as far as the Black Mountains) where guests can relax, read or use the creative studio for art and crafts.

The village has a cafe and pub serving food for a meal out, a grocery store/newsagent for provisions and Post Office. There is a large courtyard for parking and storage space for bikes, canoes and fishing tackle. With its own sunny patio and Arboyne House’s garden for relaxing during the warmer months (including choices for outdoor seating and eating), and a log burner for winter breaks, The Bakehouse has all year round appeal.

Eardisley is within easy reach of the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye; the medieval town of Kington on the Offa's Dyke Path; and the historic city of Hereford with its intriguing cathedral exhibiting the Mappa Mundi.

This picturesque area known for its cider orchards and mistletoe growing in the trees offers plenty of activities and places of interest to visit with something to suit every taste. There are medieval castles, churches that date back to the 12th and 13th century, gardens and stunning countryside with dingles, rivers and beautiful views providing a picturesque backdrop to a host of activities.

For those who enjoy food, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy organic food, cheese and the finest of local produce, along with outdoor activities to work it off such as walking, cycling (on or off-road), fishing, horse riding, kayaking and all-weather tennis courts just a short walk away in the village.

Trip advisor recommended.
