Alderholt Mill is a picturesque working Water Mill set in the lovely Dorset countryside, a real escape from the everyday pressures. An ideal spot in which to relax and unwind and a great situation from which to explore not only Dorset but also West Hampshire, Salisbury and the Wiltshire Downs and of course the New Forest. We are in easy reach of the south coast, just a short drive from Bournemouth and Poole.
The Mill is situated on an island formed by the River Allen, a small tributary that joins the River Avon at the nearby town of Fordingbridge.
There is a large garden with plenty of water, a wildlife pond, bog garden, and stream where wildlife abounds. Kingfishers and herons are frequent visitors.
Private fishing is available. Grayling and Trout are two of the species in the river, and we can supply a bait fridge and lock up for fishing tackle. Early breakfasts are available for the real fishing enthusiasts.

The Granary is a very unusual apartment situated on the first and second floor of the Old Warehouse, and is accessed via an outside staircase.

Smartly fitted kitchen with dishwasher (tablets supplied), electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and all the usual and necessary equipment.
One double bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower on the first floor.
Also on this floor is the lovely big sitting room. This room is unusual in the fact that it reaches right up into the roof rafters on the second floor giving a real feel of space and airiness. It is very comfortably furnished with 2 sofas and a double sofa bed. There is also a dining area within this room.
Second floor open galleried double bedroom with bathroom (bath only). This room has the additional feature of an oak beam at knee height with steps up and over (not suitable for the less agile). Part air-contitioning for extra comfort.
Separate bathroom with beamed ceiling.
Additional information:
The granary benefits from a wealth of oak beams throughout which add to the charm of this apartment. Electric storage heating and colour TV, radio, video, DVD and CD player are also provided.
All linen is included in the rental and beds will be made up before arrival. There is a washing machine on site for guests to use. There is a large garden with plenty of seating and free access to B.B.Q for alfresco cuisine. Electricity is by £1.00 coin meter.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at our discretion.
