This beautiful Victorian hunting Lodge is set in a spectacular position within 266 square miles of the Exmoor National Park. The lodge is perfect for accommodating large parties of up to twenty eight guests and is furnished and equipped to a very high standard to ensure your every need is met, whatever the occasion.
The Cleeve is positioned in a perfect location, not being overlooked by any other properties, yet just a two minute stroll to shops, restaurants and pubs and under two miles from a beach. You can truly relax and take it easy in this unique secluded position whilst having the convenience of many facilities on your doorstep.
Exmoor is among the UK's greatest areas of outstanding beauty and offers numerous activities to enjoy and places to visit. The scenery is breathtaking with rugged moors and ancient woodland. Whatever your interest, there is something for everyone with walking, riding, biking, fossil hunting, sailing, hang gliding and site seeing.
There are great village sports facilities including tennis, football, cricket, bowls along with a children's play area just across the lane. Children staying at The Cleeve can also enjoy playing in the private garden - you will just need to keep an eye on them so you can find them! There is a lovely stream, some steep banks and level lawned areas within the garden, providing the ideal place for relaxing on a hot sunny day.
The wildlife is abundant on Exmoor with thirty one native mammals, including the Exmoor pony and the majestic red deer. It provides plenty of opportunity for birdwatchers with over two hundred different species of birds, and there are numerous differenty types of flowers and insects.
Located in what is probably Exmoor's loveliest village, Hawkcombe and Porlock make a great place to spend a holiday. You can spend weeks without the need to drive anywhere, with everything within easy reach. There are trails straight from the lodges front door and you can go directly from the huge lawn onto a bridleway or take the winding garden path over the private bridge across the stream and stroll up the quiet country lane deeper into the spectacular setting. There are three pubs within walking distance (one dating back to the 12th century), several restaurants and plenty of shops for everyday needs.

Accommodation and facilities comprise:
Huge lounge/dining room with great views of the hills. Comfy seating, open fire, big flat screen TV, DVD player, games console etc.
Second lounge and it's octagonal! Big open fire, window seats, comfy seats, TV, DVD player, games console etc.
Eight+ comfy bedrooms. Each bedroom can sleep from 2 to 5, some en-suite plus another bedroom off room 3. Ideal for up to 16 people in couples plus optional children or 8 single adults (or 16 sharing rooms but not beds). Other variations possible!
Six stylish bath/shower rooms. A mixture of baths, Jacuzzi and/or power showers, (some double size).
Main kitchen. A great place to cook, eat or chat. Complete with a lovely large AGA oven.
Second kitchen. We know what it's like when everyone in a group wants to cook at the same time so we've provided a second kitchen with conventional oven and hob.
Libraries. We have libraries of books, videos, DVD films and games to choose from.
Level lawned area. About the size of a tennis court, wide open with views to the hills and the sea yet secluded and large enough for all sorts of fun and games.
Landscaped garden, two acres in total: lots of trees and terracing with a path winding down to our private footbridge, some wild parts (to encourage wildlife) and some tame parts!
Gazebo. A relaxing view across the lawn!
Children's nature hide. Somewhere to watch the wildlife from or other adventures.
Pantry and storage. You want somewhere to put your food so we kept the big walk in pantry. There are also lots of cupboards in the kitchens to choose from.
Appliances galore. Washing machine, clothes dryer, freezer, several fridges, big AGA, conventional oven and hob, microwave ovens, fast commercial (easy to use) dishwasher, several TVs, DVD players, video, radio and more.
Parking - the lodge has its own private parking for up to around 8 cars and further free public parking can be found by the footbridge.
Children's play area. There's a public children's play area over the quiet lane. It's visible from our patio.
Additional information: Prices listed on this advert are based on sixteen people maximum sharing - please speak to the owner for prices for larger parties. Changeover day is normally on a Friday but the owners try to be flexible. Short breaks of three and four nights are also available.

♦ It is a really stunning property and we loved the entire week - the position was perfect, the house attractive and well furnished, walks up the hill and down were lovely and the children enjoyed them v much... The views from the house, particularly the bay-windowed bedroom which my husband and I had, were the best in the world. The two rooms with TV's made it v good for children and adults. The dining tables were great... it was just right for us all. Furniture downstairs and upstairs was v comfortable Pantry useful, also two kitchens... Aga is fun and cosy... Other cooker good...
