Alternatively, if you want to relax, this is an ideal place to enjoy a day at the beach with the coastline being just three miles away.
The area has plenty of historical interest, including the ancient port of Watchet, the 'Mineral Line' and the medieval village of Dunster with its ancient castle.
The seaside town of Minehead is a short distance away and there are lots of picturesque villages along the West Somerset and Exmoor coastline and inland, including Lynton, Porlock, Exford, Lynmouth, Wynford and Dulverton. Reviews and Testimonials for Lyndale Cottage
The following quotes are from the notes left for us by our guests.
'The cottage was perfect– very cosy and ideally placed – we even sat in the garden to admire the stars one evening'.
'Thanks for everything, we’ve had a lovely time and the cottage is really cosy and homely. Exmoor is a lovely place and we hope to return!'
'Just wanted to say thank you for the warm welcome you gave us at Lyndale. We enjoyed our short stay in the cottage and had some lovely walks on Exmoor. The cottage was so cosy and quiet. It was just what we needed.'
'Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say what a fantastic time we all had in Somerset. The walking was great. We must have done around 70 miles in total so the dogs are nice and tired. The cottage was really nice. Thank you again for your hospitality. The added little touches were really appreciated. We would certainly consider coming back to Lyndale. Not only to do the walks we never managed to get around to this year but also to redo a few we enjoyed so much this year'.
'We have had a great week and lots of walking. Great area for doing plenty. Your cottage is very comfortable and warm and we will certainly recommend'.
'Would just like to thank you for making us feel welcome and to let you know we really enjoyed our stay in Somerset. We were able to make the most of the local attractions such as Cleeve Abbey and Torre Cider Farm (and its freshly made scones!) and taking trips to Lynmouth and the beautiful Wimbleball Lake. We would certainly recommend your cottage and visiting the unspoilt local countryside'.
'We’ve had a lovely time. Cottage is fantastic and village very peaceful – just what we needed'.
'We’ve had a lovely time in your cottage and feel completely chilled out and ready to face the “rat race” again on Monday! We had plenty to see and do while we were here and visited lots of nearby villages, though Wednesday closing and shops closing for lunch was a novelty! The streams and wildlife were wonderful.'
'Very many thanks for what I can say was one of the best holiday breaks we have had. The cottage was lovely, home from home. We have stayed at places in the past and left after one night. The location is fantastic and great walking was had by all. We will be back if that is OK with you'.
'We had a great stay – you have a lovely village here and the locals were very friendly and welcoming.'
'We had a wonderful weekend in your cottage. The cottage was clean and homely. The log fire was beautiful. And what a quiet location. Look forward to seeing you again sometime.'
'Thank you for your hospitality. Lyndale is a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting'.
'Wonderful cottage. We walked everywhere and our dog now needs a rest. Lovely and peaceful area. One of our favourites'.
'We had a brilliant Christmas – the kitchen took a while to get used to as mine is gas but Christmas dinner was a great success. We had to have the flre lit in the dining room (for the effect) even though it wasn’t cold. The people we met were all really friendly and we couldn’t fault the Valiant Soldier – food and drink excellent.'
'We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are sorry to be going. This tray is a present for the cottage'.
