Hartshanger is an Edwardian gentleman's residence set above the village of Porlock in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. The top floor of the main house and the coach house have been converted into beautiful self-catering accommodation. Beams, sloping ceilings and patchwork quilts in the bedrooms all add to the charm of these properties. Set in the middle of about 5 acres, Hartshanger has wonderful views over Porlock Bay towards Wales.
This is a peaceful place, with the only sounds being that of the surf on the beach below and the occasional call from a seagull, buzzard, cow or sheep. It is the ideal place for those wanting to get away from it all and relax or walk our beautiful countryside. There is tennis on site and sea and river fishing, horse riding, cycling and mountain biking near by. A short 5 minute walk to the pub, restaurant or food shop.
Porlock is a lively, friendly village and there is always something going on.
The accommodation at Hartshanger Holidays comprises 2 self-catering flats known as High Hanger and Little Hanger. High Hanger is in what was the servants quarters on the second floor of the main house. It sleeps 4 with 1 double and 1 twin room. Little Hanger is in what was the old coach house. It sleeps 5, 2 double rooms and 1 single room with a cot.

Little Hanger is a first floor flat in the original coach house/stable block and is reached by its own flight of stone steps up to a stable door. Little Hanger is a warm, cosy flat with low beamed ceilings in the bedrooms and mellow peach walls. An unusual feature is the painted floor in the kitchen, much like a gypsy caravan and walls stenciled with huge garden urns trailing with ivy. The lounge area has patio doors which open out onto a private area of garden with a terrace, barbecue area and lawn. It is only a short walk from here to the all weather tennis court. There are some beautiful sunsets over the Bristol Channel and Wales and these can be enjoyed whilst sitting out on the terrace on a summers evening.

Sitting room with three piece suite. Large sliding patio door giving access to Little Hangers own private garden on the same level.
Terrace with barbecue area, a table and five chairs and an area of lawn with washing line.
Kitchen/dining area with table and chairs to seat six and matching dresser.
Laundry room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer and hanging airer for the exclusive use of visitors staying in Little Hanger.
