Totmans Farm (no-longer working) is home to two charming self catering holiday cottages and stands at the top of a hill at the southern end of Thaxted.  The farm is surrounded by pretty countryside and it offers lovely views. 

Orchard Cottage and Mill View Cottage are timber-clad conversions that each sleep four guests.  They have ample car parking and are set back off the road.   The rear of the cottages face west onto meadow land and enjoy glorious sunsets from the patio.  There is also a small orchard which provides the perfect place to escape to a shady quiet place to relax on a hot sunny day.

The Views from the cottages are lovely and you can see Thaxted's cathedral-like Church and windmill in the distance.  Thaxted town itself originally grew around a Saxon settlement and boasts a glorious 14th century church, a restored windmill and a half-timbered Guildhall.  The town is famous for its Morris Ring and hosts a Morris weekend every year (the first weekend after the Spring Bank Holiday) which attracts hundreds of dancers who entertain the town and surrounding villages. There is also an annual Thaxted Music Festival which takes place during June/July and is held in the wonderful setting of the Church.

Whatever time of the year you visit Thaxted - the welcome will be warm.  For those who want to explore the area the following attractions are within easy reach: Linton Zoo; The House on the Hill Toy Museum; Mole Hall Wildlife Park; Mountfitchet Castle & Norman Village of 1066 and Audley End House and Gardens.

Further a field you have: Cambridge, the University town which is famous for punting on the River Cam, excellent restaurants, pubs, shopping and the Corn Exchange Theatre; Braintree with its designer shopping village; Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town with its zoo; Southend-on-Sea with the longest pleasure pier in the world and excellent fish and chips.  For those who enjoy golf there are three clubs close to the cottages.
