Woodland House Cottage is a comfortable stone built holiday cottage that adjoins the owners home and enjoys wonderful south facing panoramic views across beautiful open countryside spanning from the North Yorkshire Moors to the Pennines.

The cottage is located in the pleasant village of Woodland which is perched high on the slopes of the lower Teesdale valley, right on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a pub, post-office and well-stocked shop within walking distance of the cottage and is just seven miles from the bustling historic market town of Barnard Castle.

Woodland provides a good base for exploring the area and there is plenty of opportunity for walking and enjoying other outdoor activities, whilst admiring the spectacular North Pennine scenery. Nearby Hamsterley Forest is just a mile from the cottage and provides endless opportunities for walkers, bird watchers and cyclists amongst its 5000 acres of forest with miles of footpaths and a purpose built mountain bike track.

Lying between the Northumberland National Park and the Yorkshire Dales the Durham Dales of Teesdale and Weardale offer some of the finest scenery in the country. The landscape is diverse with an interesting blend of rugged upland, gentle river valleys, impressive waterfalls, wildflower meadows and drystone walls. Less well known than other regions this area is surprisingly uncrowded and unspoilt at any time of the year.

Woodland is also the perfect location to use as a touring base with Durham City with it's magnificent cathedral and castle, The Northumberland National Park, Hadrians wall, The Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Northumberland Coast, The Lake District and The North Yorkshire Moors and Coast all within easy reach.
