Greenwell Hill Holiday Cottages offer three self-catering holiday homes, located near to Wolsingham in Co. Durham. The holiday cottages are in an enviable position, on a farm overlooking the hills of the North Pennines. Accommodating parties of four, six and thirteen individually, the holiday cottages are available for both short breaks and longer holidays. They can also be rented together to accommodate larger parties of up to twenty three.
Situated in Weardale, a picturesque valley and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Greenwell Hill Holiday Cottages sit between the villages of Tow Law and Wolsingham. Guests staying at the cottages can enjoy a wonderful three hundred and fifty acre vista of the beautiful rolling County Durham countryside.
Moorland streams wind their way to the River Wear as it makes its way through pretty Dales villages including Frosterley, Stanhope, St Johns Chapel, Escomb and Fir Tree. Pretty wild flower meadows and traditional dry stone walls add to the character of this beautiful landscape which is a haven for wildlife, including birdlife.
Greenwell is ideal for family holidays and offers children the opportunity to stay on a real farm where they can feed the chickens and follow the nature trail. There are plenty of delights to see on and around the farm including wild flowers, owls, kestrels, buzzards, red kites, sparrow hawks, stoats, foxes, weasels, pippastrelle bats and Hares. There are family oriented activities nearby such as pony trekking, mountain biking in Hamsterley forest, trout fishing and plenty of walking across the Durham Dales.
A little further away, yet within easy reach, are a wide range of attractions including Weardale Railway, Hamsterley Forest, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, Beamish Museum, Durham Cathedral and Castle and Hadrians Wall.
The area offers great walking opportunities, allowing you to experience the tranquillity, magnificent views, stunning countryside and varied flora and wildlife by foot. There are miles and miles of public footpaths, quiet country lanes and former industrial railway lines, providing everything from a peaceful family stroll to a strenuous hill walk. The area also has much to offer cyclists with its peaceful lanes and miles of accessible off road cycle ways.

The Barn, with its traditional Weardale stone roof and converted Gin Gan, retains much original character and sleeps up to thirteen guests. It can be rented as one cottage or split into the Granary (sleeping eight) and the Gin Gan (sleeping five).
The Granary sleeps eight in three en-suite double bedrooms (one upstairs and two downstairs) and also has a twin en-suite bedroom downstairs. It is ideal for small groups or friends and affords views from the upstairs kitchen and lounge/dining room across open farmland.

The Gin Gan sleeps five (plus one) and has a twin and family bedroom (both en-suite). The kitchen is well equipped and the main open plan living area is circular and unusual. When booked together with the Granary, The Barn is ideal for large family parties, small functions and corporate meetings.
