Reviews and Testimonials for Low Shipley Cottage
Had a lovely 3 week stay in this very spacious & cosy cottage! It has everything you need (and more!) for a relaxing holiday. Beautiful bedrooms & bathrooms, nice furnishings. The area is outstandingly beautiful. Much to see & discover, i.e. we went to the Bowes Museum, Durham, Darlington (railway museum), Swaledale, Raby Castle & had nice walks at the Cow Green Resevoir. Barnard Castle is an excellent base for a holiday. It's a beautiful little town, lively with all the shops you need. Thanks Ruth & Derek for your hospitality! We really recommend this cottage and we wish you both lots of success with your work. Toos & Jos Heeren-Ruyten, Roosendaal, The Netherlands. 6th May - 27th May 2011.
Thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Low Shipley Cottage. Very comfortable & relaxing. Lovely area with many walks & scenery to see. Thanks. 20th-24th June 2011.
Had a great week. A very comfortable cottage amongst truely beautiful scenery. Wonderful walks between Low & High Force. Crook Hall & gardens in Durham, well worth a visit. 8th-15th July 2011.
We had the most marvellous holiday here which we shall remember always. Thank you Ruth & Derek for your hospitality & for this lovely cottage. 15th-18th July 2011.
We've had a lovely long weekend in your beautiful cottage (even better than it looked in the photos!) The walks & maps in pouffe were very helpful. Enjoyed a good takeaway from Spice Island in Barnard Castle. Only a short walk to Cotherstone for the morning paper. Would thoroughly recommend, thank you Ruth & Derek. 22nd-25th July 2011.
Sue brought me here for a few days of fishing to celebrate my 60th. We found the countryside delightful & enjoyed good value meals at the local pubs. Like others, we enjoyed the food at Spice Island in Barney. The little brown trout in the River Tees were quite a challenge & happily too small & beautiful to remove. The spaciousness & tasteful decor of the cottage were a very pleasant surprise, so we really enjoyed our short break. 26th-30th July 2011.
Beautiful cottage, fantastic views. Visited some lovely places. Very relaxing holiday, peace & quiet. Raby Castle was lovely & historic. Views from garden were amazing. Thank you for a lovely stay. 30th July-6th August 2011.
Lovely cottage, fantastic views. Can also recommend the Fox & Hounds at Cothersone. The cake on arrival is a lovely touch. 6th-12th August 2011.
Beautiful conversion - tastefully decorated & furnished - the beds are so comfy, like sleeping in a cloud! 12th-19 August 2011.
We came away for Christmas to get away from it all and were welcomed with a roaring fire, pretty Christmas tree & champagne in the fridge, what a welcome! The barn is a lovely place to get away & relax & enjoy the beautiful conuntryside & villages. We recommend the Fox & Hounds in Cotherstone for a good pint & lovely food. The circular walks (map in the footstool) from Cotherstone are all worth doing, & the waterfall at High Force. We've never visited Teesdale before but love it. 23rd-29th December 2011
What a wonderful house, thank you Derek & Ruth for a fabulous stay & for all the little extra touches that made it a really special stay for us. Had a great trip to Low & High Force - recommend that walk & a day trip to Ullswater - only 1 hour away by car. Lovely walk to Cotherstone's Fox & Hounds too! We are already talking about coming back for a birthday treat - there is so much more to explore. 30th Dec 11 - 2nd Jan 12
