This delightful Georgian cottage (VisitBritain 4 star rating), is one of a picturesque row of cottages close to the church, overlooking a quiet square. It is very cosy, comfortable and well-equipped and offers a charming enclosed garden and separate annexe.
This is one of the best locations in Lyme where you have a choice of two totally different beaches (one of which is famous for fossils) which are just a two to three minute walk from the cottage and the shops are just around the corner.
The cottage itself has one double bedroom, one twin-bedded room and one single bedroom and across the garden the "Boathouse" annex provides a further bedroom with three single beds - ideal for friends and family who want to holiday together with a degree of privacy.
Lyme Regis - the spectacular location of this former fishing town, nestling between the hollow of the cliffs and sea, overlooking one of the most beautiful bays on the British Coast. The quaint higgledy-piggledy lay-out of mostly very old buildings has remained unchanged for centuries, with remarkably little intrusion by new developments and not a whiff of the seaside seediness found in so many resorts.
It offers a glorious variety of beaches - smooth sand, shingle, extraordinary shale slabs worn into a myriad of rock pools; shallow sea, calm and sheltered for swimming, sailing, fishing and diving or whipped into breakers for windsurfing and a long seafront with some of the oddest cottages you will see! There are cliffside gardens and a mini-golf course, and the sweet little protected harbour which you can walk along to visit the 17th Century buildings and interesting aquarium.
Now excitingly granted World Heritage status, Lyme Bay has been internationally recognised as the most important lower Jurassic site in the world for the wealth of mollusc and ancient reptile remains, together with a unique topography of landslips, mud-flows and wooded cliffs. Hunting for fossils can provide hours of entertainment for the whole family!
For those who enjoy walking, the area offers walkers many delights - long walks along the beach and most particularly the undercliff walk between Lyme and Axmouth, most of it through glorious woodland, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Being on the borders of Devon and Dorset, this is the perfect holiday destination for exploring both beautiful counties or simply relaxing by the beach.

All bedrooms are provided with linen, continental quilts and bath towel and hand towel per person. The cottage is centrally heated with thermostatically controlled radiator valves in each room and Georgian style double-glazed windows.
Opposite the bathroom, a door leads across the garden to the Boathouse annex. The garden is enclosed with no access to the road, making it safe for small children and pets. It is mainly paved, has some steps onto different levels, and there are small trees, shrubs and a few other plants. A table and chairs are provided and a barbecue area. A gate at the top of steep steps to the kitchen back door and downstairs loo can be secured safely for children. The “Boathouse” provides further comfortable accommodation with good sized playroom/sitting room with television set, chest of drawers and shelves containing jigsaws, cards etc. Doors off lead to the fully equipped laundry, with automatic washing machine and tumble drier, and shower room with power shower, basin and toilet. Through the playroom, a door leads to the bedroom with three single beds and wardrobe – ideal for the younger members of the family. The Boathouse is fully centrally heated throughout, double glazed and warmly carpeted and furnished.
Leave the boathouse and find the steep steps – protected by railings – which lead down to the back door of the kitchen, and also a small toilet.
Within two minutes walk is a private lockable parking bay available to “Appletrees” Loading and unloading may take place outside the cottage, but waiting there is strictly limited.

Reviews and Testimonials for Appletrees
Great family Christmas and New Year, also daughter’s 40th. Really cosy family home – well equipped. Cooked great food for 8 in the kitchen and had everything we needed. Snow, sun, rain, wind – we all had a grand time. Many thanks for wine, biscuits and brownies – much appreciated. We attended carol service around the tree in the High Street. Lovely !! Great Duck race, New Year lunge, beach treasure hunt – we did it all – another great visit. PS thank you for the special tree. The Busby family, 22nd December – 5th January, 2011
We had a wonderful time at Appletrees and did not want to go home. The cottage is absolutely beautiful – well appointed and comfortable. It is also in a perfect spot – out of the hustle and bustle of the main town, but within easy reach of everything, even Mum who uses a stick was able to walk down to the front. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage to anybody (and indeed already have). I think you may see us again very soon. Jayne Maber – 10th April, 2011
First time in Lyme Regis – Beautiful. House really comfortable and well equipped and welcoming. Wine and Brownies much appreciated. Thank you. Anne Carvel and family - 6th – 14th May, 2011.
Lovely cottage. Second time we have stayed here. Thought it was immaculate and love the new fresh bedding. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone and look forward to staying again next year. Fabulous! The Trewren family 19th – 26th August, 2011.
