Hope Thatch is the quintessential thatched 'chocolate box' holiday cottage, which is the oldest house in the delightful South Devon village of Malborough. Dating back to 1650, it is Grade II listed and provides cosy and very comfortable holiday accommodation for five to seven guests.
Its sympathetic refurbishment has ensured that its original character has been preserved and the cottage still boasts a wealth of original features including a slate fireplace and exposed beams.
The picturesque village of Malborough is a delightful place to stay with its pretty cottages that line the street. It has two pubs, a bistro, a church and a couple of shops all within walking distance of the cottage.
Located between Salcombe and the pretty village of Hope Cove, this is the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful South Devon Coastline and South Hams area.
Salcombe itself is just over two and a half miles away and is a beautiful harbour town which offers a great selection of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants. It is a famous centre of sailing and the estuary offers a good number of lovely sheltered sandy beaches where you can relax and coastal walks for those feeling energetic! You will not only see yachts and fishing boats bobbing up and down on the water but if you are lucky you may also see dolphins and seals in the estuary and a multitude of other wildlife.
Once a haunt for smugglers, Hope Cove today offers the perfect place to relax in a beautiful coastal setting. It is only a short drive from the cottage (two and a half miles) and this delightful fishing village is a pleasure to visit with its cobbled thatched cottages, complimented by pretty colourful gardens and window boxes in the summer months. It provides beautiful clean sandy beaches and is well known for its flora and fauna (along with its fresh crab and lobster!).

The property has its own rear garden, complete with a patio and garden furniture for al fresco dining.
There are two steps off an enclosed courtyard, which has a bistro table and chairs into an enclosed lobby.
From there you enter the lounge and dining areas, complete with feature fireplace, beamed ceilings and 46 inch 3D Smart television with a cinema surround-sound blue ray DVD, Xbox Kinect with Xbox live subscription, iPod dock and Love Film subscription. There is also Sky HD with 3D and Wi-fi Broadband for guests enjoyment and use.
There is a dining and seating area (including a sofa bed for additional guests), which then leads into the fitted kitchen, plus downstairs WC.
From the stairs there are steps to the bathroom.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single.
Additional information: The property rental includes electricity, Gas, linen and towels. Parking is normally available on the road immediately outside the cottage garden or can be provided in the pub car park opposite by prior arrangement. Alternatively, there is always parking available at the village hall which is within 100 yards away.
