Cornborough Coombe and Cornborough Cottage are two delightful holiday cottages that can accommodate parties of up to ten guests when hired together. When booking Cornborough Coombe (sleeps eight), Cornborough Cottage (sleeps two) will not be rented separately to ensure guests privacy and there will be no extra charge for the cottage should it be required for accommodating parties of ten guests.
This is an excellent setting for friends or families who want to enjoy a holiday or celebrate an occasion. Cornborough comes complete with its own seaside Beach Hut overlooking the sands on the North Devon coast a mile from the cottage. Cornborough Cottage can also be rented separately to couples to provide a relaxing retreat, outside of school holidays and when Cornborough Coombe is not already booked. Under these circumstances, Cornborough Coombe will not be rented separately, so guests of Cornborough Cottage will have full use of the grounds without being interrupted by any other guests.
Both Cornborough Coombe and Cornborough Cottage are beautifully presented and are located very close to the North Devon coastline, making them perfect for enjoying a beach holiday or surfing. They sit in a wonderfully secluded position, amongst rolling countryside, between Westward Ho! and the small village of Abbotsham, providing an ideal base from which to explore North Devon with its many attractions.
Westward Ho! is just one mile away from the cottages and has a fantastic sandy Blue Flag Beach, pubs and cafes, along with great opportunities for those who enjoy outdoor activities including surfing, canoeing and kite surfing, along with good golfing opportunities at Royal Northam, the oldest seaside links course in England and Saunton Sands – a championship golf course across the bay. In the opposite direction is Abbotsham with its post office/village store and ancient 15th Century thatched pub. Abbotsham is just two miles from the market town of Bideford with its historic port, local markets (at the weekends), supermarkets, banks, shops, pubs and factory outlets at Atlantic Village. From Bideford you can also take a day trip to Lundy Island which is highly recommended.
The quaint quayside village of Appledore with its old fishermen's cottages, narrow streets, galleries and craft shops is within easy reach, as is the cobbled village of Clovelly with its ancient and beautiful harbour. Instow too has a beautiful sandy Blue Flag Beach and is located on the Tarka Trail which provides miles of hard surface cycling (and walking) with pubs along the way to gain refreshments!
For those who enjoy walking, Exmoor National Park is just a few miles away and provides plenty of great walks for all abilities across its breathtaking landscape, dotted with pretty villages. There are also many fantastic local walks to enjoy, including coastal walks where you can take in the cliffs and beaches of this dramatic coastline.
Devon has plenty of places to visit with something to suit all ages including: The Big Sheep; RHS Gardens Rosemoor; The Milky Way and Dartington Crystal to name just a few. There are also great pubs and restaurants where you can sample fantastic local produce and some of the best seafood you will taste!
Cornborough Coombe and Cornborough Cottage are set in almost an acre of private grounds with woods, lawned areas and gardens which are ideal for exploring, climbing, playing games or simply relaxing with a good book or glass of wine.

Cornborough Coombe is full of decadent glamour and can accommodate parties of up to eight guests comfortably in four bedrooms.
Accommodation has wooden floors throughout and comprises:
Ground floor
- Large entrance hall with under stairs cloak room and stairs to the second floor.
- Sitting-room with two comfortable sofas, arm-chairs, CD player, wood-burner and bay window seat looking out on to the garden. There is a 14th Century oak door leading upstairs.
- Games-room with large inglenook fireplace, two sofas, television, Play Station, DVD player and French doors leading to the garden.
- Large Kitchen/Dining-room with electric range cooker, two fridges, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. An old bread oven and huge pine dining table which seats twelve add to the charm of this room. Stable doors lead to the patio and garden.
- Utility-room with Belfast sink, washing machine and tumble-drier.
- Cloakroom with WC and washbasin.
- Half-landing children’s playroom with plenty of toys for the children.
First Floor - all four bedrooms are south facing and afford the soft early morning sun.
- Master bedroom with double bed, chest of drawers, relaxing chair and en suite shower-room with large shower, WC and wash-basin.
- Twin bedroom with built in cupboard.
- Bunk bedroom with built in cupboard.
- Double bedroom with large iron double bed and en suite bathroom with bath, fitted shower, WC and washbasin.
- Family bathroom with bath, hand shower attachment, WC and double washbasins.
Prices for Cornborough Coombe: Low from £915; Mid from £1056 and High from £2010. Please note that when both cottages are required for parties of ten guests, there will be no additional charge for the use of Cornborough Cottage.
Cornborough Cottage is a beautifully presented holiday cottage that is ideal for couples or for providing additional accommodation with a good degree of privacy, for larger parties if hired with Cornborough Coombe. Accommodation is all on ground floor level and the accommodation is suitable for people with limited mobility (please discuss your personal requirements with the owner to ensure its suitability both inside and out prior to booking).
Ground floor accommodation comprises:
- Kitchen-area with electric two ring hob, oven, microwave and fridge.
- Spacious open plan studio room with high vaulted ceilings, dining and bedroom areas. There is a radio and television, along with two single beds and en suite wetroom with WC shower and washbasin (wheel chair accessible).
Outside: There are large sweeping gardens to the front and rear of the house for guest's enjoyment with children’s wooden framed play area including a slide and swings. At the front of the house the lawned garden leads to beautiful woods that are a delight in May with bluebells. There is also a gentle stream which meanders through the valley.
Additional information: All mains services, bed linen and towels are included in the price, along with a tray of fresh scones, jam and Devonshire clotted cream to welcome guests. Cots or high chairs can be provided at no additional charge. Short breaks are available outside school holidays or at short notice (seven days) if there is availability. A welcome basket of logs is provided for the wood-burner in Cornborough Coombe, then logs can be purchased at cost. The holiday cottages are dog friendly.
