Speccott Barton provides a choice of six self catering holiday cottages that can accommodate parties of two to fourteen guests individually, within the beautiful rolling hills of the unspoilt North Devon countryside. Just a twenty minute drive to the North Devon coastline with its wonderful beaches, this is an ideal location for anyone looking to explore the area along with its many attractions or simply relax in a peaceful setting.
The cottages are ideal for not only couples looking for a quiet retreat but also small and large families who want a place where children can play and enjoy themselves safely, with excellent facilities which can be used whatever the weather. These include an indoor swimming pool, tennis court and games room.
Speccott Barton is a family-run sheep farm which is available all year round. Its location is ideal for those who enjoy walking with direct access to the Tarka Trail and a good number of footpaths which allow you to explore the area by foot. Alternatively, cycle the quiet country lanes and take in the beautiful scenery.
Centred in mid North Devon, the farm is an ideal base for exploring not only Devon but also some of Cornwall as well as offering easy access to both Exmoor and Dartmoor. With the owners living on site to assist you should you need it, you can relax knowing that your holiday should run smoothly.

Speccott Barton offers six holiday cottages. Forge sleeps two guests; Stable sleeps two (plus two); Hayloft sleeps six; Coach House (featured in this advert) sleeps eight; Granary sleeps fourteen and Parlour also sleeps eight guests.
Originally part of the main farmhouse, the Coach house once housed the traps and coaches on the farm.
Accommodation and facilities include:
Entrance leading straight into the flag stoned lounge with wood burning stove.
Overlooking the gardens, the lounge leads into the well equipped kitchen with beams.
Downstairs double bedroom, ideal for anyone unable to use the stairs.
Downstairs toilet/shower room.
Backdoor leads outside to the games room and swimming pool.
Upstairs family bathroom.
Upstairs double bedroom overlooking the gardens and a large bedroom containing four single beds.
Additional information: Coach House may be suitable for people with limited mobility but please discuss your personal requirements with the owner before booking to ensure the cottage meets your needs both inside and out.Please note that the washing machine and tumble dryer is located in a communal laundry room which is available for guests use (£1.00 per load on the machines). Each cottage has a £1 electricity coin metre fitted.
All cottages have access to the indoor heated swimming pool (open all year). It measures 26'x15' and is a continual depth of 4' - children under the age of 16 must be accompanied in the pool area at all times. The pool is open from 9am - 9pm apart from on a Saturday when it is closed for cleaning until 2pm. During term time the pool is used by a local swimming club on Monday afternoon 4 - 6.30pm and Wednesday afternoon 2.30 - 6.30pm.
There is a hard court tennis court in the old walled garden. Whether playing or observing you will you can not help but admire the beautiful scenery and views of Dartmoor.
The children's play area with swings and slide is also located at the end of the walled garden and there are large communal gardens and picnic areas with barbecues for guest's enjoyment.
A good sized two storey games room is sure to keep the children entertained if it rains and offers table tennis, pool (coin operated), outdoor play equipment, darts, air hockey table (child size), football table and carpeted play area.
Guests have full access to walk the farm and permission to watch lambs being born in the spring.
