The Old School House is a charming three bedroom holiday cottage that sleeps four adults and two children (plus cot). Located in the small parish of Woodbury just outside Axminster in Devon, this delightful building was originally the Master's house, to the adjoining former parish school. It stands within large mature gardens and affords wonderful views over the Axe Valley and has open countryside to the front and side.
The small ancient market town of Axminster is located within East Devon in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It provides a wealth of outdoor activities and is a good location for exploring the whole of the West Country. Just a couple of miles from the Old School House, Axminster has two supermarkets, a leisure centre (with swimming pool) and a variety of interesting shops, including The River Cottage Canteen. The River Cottage HQ is only a couple of miles away at Rousden, which runs activities throughout the year. The Old School House, is also ideally located for exploring the Jurassic Coastline - a world heritage site, along with East Dorset and its coastal towns.
The Old School House is conveniently situated a few miles inland from the attractive seaside towns of Lyme Regis and Seaton which are both well worth visiting. Lyme Regis is an historic unspoiled seaside resort and fishing port which boasts breathtaking scenery, sheltered beaches, interesting shops and plenty of eating establishments. Seaton is perfectly located in the centre of Seaton Bay in a visually stunning position. Seaton Marshes and wetlands teem with birdlife throughout the year and you can enjoy a breathtaking journey on one of the famous Seaton Trams that run alongside the estuary and marshes on their way to Colyton.
The historic town of Colyton has much to offer with its narrow streets, wide range of shops, pubs/restaurants and beautiful surrounding countryside. The charming fishing village of Beer is a quaint place to visit with its excellent pubs and restaurants, galleries, shops and sun trap shingle beach. Here you can enjoy a nice relaxing lunch, browse the shops or for those feeling energetic, walk to the nearby pretty village of Branscombe along the coastal path.
The surrounding area is blessed with beautiful country and coastal scenery and provides a wealth of places to visit and things to do. There are plenty of sporting activities to enjoy including golf, sailing, fishing, pony trekking, walking and cycling and wonderful beaches and pretty villages to visit. Alternatively, simply relax in the garden and enjoy the peaceful setting and lovely views.

The Old School House is accessed from a gated drive and affords wonderful views over the Axe Valley. Guests can enjoy the large mature gardens with lawns, seating and a large patio area with cast iron furniture for six people. There is also outside lighting, making the garden perfect for relaxing both during the day and of an evening. Short breaks may be available - please enquire with the owner.

Master bedroom with four poster bed.
Twin bedroom
Bunk bedroom which is accessed off the main bedroom and is ideal for two young children (plus there is room for a cot).
Large ground floor bathroom with a cast iron roll top bath with electric shower over.
Separate ground floor WC.
Kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave and washing machine. A freezer is also provided.
Dining room with flag stone flooring and open fireplace.
Lounge with wooden flooring and also a non working open fireplace. There is a large colour television, Freeview decoder, DVD player and Hi Fi.
Outside: To the front of the house is a large gravelled area, with cast iron patio furniture - ideal for alfresco dinning and barbeques or just sitting and enjoying the views. Old School House stands in a large mature garden, with stunning views over the Axe Valley. To the front and side there is open countryside. There is parking for at least three cars.
