Hele Lane Cottage (also known as White Witches)nestling in the little valley of Hele Lane, is a pretty thatched holiday home situated in the depths of beautiful countryside within Mid-Devon on a 273 acre family run farm. It is perfectly positioned by the river and is the quintessential chocolate box pretty cottage when the garden is in glorious full bloom. It has been updated yet has retained much of its original character and is an ideal country retreat for families or couples looking to escape to the country. Your dog is also welcome (for a small additional charge), making this a great location for the whole family!
Centrally located, Hele Lane Cottage provides an excellent base for visiting the areas many attractions and places of interest. The landscape is amazingly varied from Dartmoor's dramatic windswept scenery to Exmoor's rolling coombes; and the vast golden beaches of the North coast to the South coasts quaint pretty fishing villages and hidden coves - an area that truly has something for all.
Country and outdoor activities are popular in this area of Devon with plenty of outdoor pursuits on offer. In spring point-to-points take place locally and in the autumn there are local ploughing matches providing a fun day out for the whole family. For walking enthusiasts, there are some fantastic local bracing walks which will give you a healthy appetite for sampling the fresh local produce on offer at the pubs in the area.
Lambing will be in full swing from 15th March 2024 so plenty of lambs to see then.
Hele Lane Cottage has an enclosed garden with lawn, picnic table and chairs for relaxing in the sunshine, and ample room where little ones can let off some steam. Through a gate are open fields where at times the owners sheep can be seen and there is a river which guests can stroll along (keep an eye-out for wildlife like herons, ducks or if you are really lucky a kingfisher or otter). Buzzards and owls can also be spotted and for those who enjoy fishing, bring your rod as there are trout in the river.
