The Shippen is one of two holiday cottages set on the western edge of the Dartmoor National Park. It is ideal for couples and can also accommodate parties of four if the sitting room is rearranged with two single beds. The second holiday cottage at the same location, The Barn (see separate advert), can accommodate parties of up to six and when hired together, both cottages can accommodate large groups of eight to ten guests - thus making it ideal for families or friends who want to holiday together whilst having a degree of privacy and personal space.
For reasonable prices, these cottages offer accommodation that is ideal for those who enjoy walking, hiking or horse riding (stabling is available should you wish to bring your own horse/s). Dartmoor is a magical location which provides beautiful countryside and wild rugged scenery - the perfect backdrop for a wide range of outdoor activities. The open moor at Cox Tor is just a ten minute walk up a 'no through' lane and from here you have access to miles of open moorland.
Tavistock (best market town 2004) is just three miles away and provides a good selection of interesting and essential shops, pubs, restaurants, local market, riverside park, leisure centre and theatre. There are many nearby pretty villages surrounding Devon and Eastern Cornwall and a variety of National Trust properties. Peter Tavy is the nearest of villages and has a church and a 15th Century inn serving good food.

The Shippen (40' x 12'; 12.2Mx3.6M approx.) has an attractive open plan interior with lots of natural wood and stone and a galleried bedroom.
Accommodation comprises:
Sitting room (which can be rearranged with 2 single beds or a double bunk).
Dining room/kitchen.
Bathroom (with basin, toilet, bath with shower).
Galleried bedroom which has a double bed.
Additional information:
Central heating comes from a new 'green' Vias log fired boiler system in a separate building. The oil fired Rayburn in the kitchen can also be lit on request. Electric cooker, radiators, fridge and colour TV. First 90 units of electricity included in the rent - the excess and any oil used will be charged at cost price. Bed linen, duvets and pillows are included within the price. Towels can be provided at an additional charge if requested. Stair gates, cot and highchair also available upon request. Secluded cobbled yard with picnic table. Private certified water supply. Parking for 2 cars. Babysitting available upon request. Well-behaved pets welcomed by arrangement. Light smoking only allowed indoors and guests are requested they smoke outside. The Shippen has access to a washing machine and tumble located outside of the cottage. Internet access by arrangement.
