A delightful thatched holiday cottage located in an ideal position for exploring the beautiful Dartmoor National Park and the county of Devon.
Splash Cottage is ideal for families or friends and is beautifully furnished and equipped to a very high standard. This peaceful holiday cottage boasts lovely valley views from the private enclosed garden and it is situated in the pretty village of Ponsworthy in the very heart of Dartmoor, - a perfect base to enjoy rural peace and tranquility along with the many delights that the area has to offer.
Ideally placed for cycling, walking, pony trekking and other moorland activities, Splash Cottage comes with a concierge service providing local information, and organisation of a wide range of activities including llama walks, farm visits, fishing, abseiling, golf and hot air ballooning.
For those looking for something more leisurely, there are National Trust properties and heritage sites in the area, along with farms and miniature pony sanctuaries. Dotted across the moor, you will find pubs, restaurants and cafés in which to sample the famous Devon cream tea. There are also a good variety of interesting shops selling local produce, arts and crafts.
Local Widecombe-in-the-Moor is best known for the annual Widecombe Fair and the village is steeped in history and local legend and offers several gift shops (including a National Trust shop) and a couple of cafes and pubs.
Dartmoor National Park is the largest open country in southern England and has a dramatic diverse landscape. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering over three hundred and fifty square miles, this spectacular landscape is a haven for wildlife and was featured on television's 'Seven Natural Wonders' as the top natural wonder in the South West. The entire area is rich in history and antiquities, hosting more archaeological sites and ancient monuments than anywhere else in Europe. Many traditional folklore, ghost stories and tales stem from this unique history.
The wider area of the West Country is home to England's only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Dorset and East Devon Coast and the county of Devon boasts two dramatic coastlines with many beautiful beaches for relaxation and water sports, complemented by the areas mild climate.
The nearby town of Ashburton (twenty minutes by car) has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and Torquay (seventeen miles), Exeter (twenty five miles) and Plymouth (twenty five miles) are all within easy driving distance.

Master bedroom upstairs with king sized bed, wardrobe, and dressing table.
Twin bedroom downstairs that can be made into a comfortable double with drawers, hanging space and underfloor heating.
Well furnished bathroom comprising a shower over a bath, basin, WC, and underfloor heating.
Outside: Private enclosed garden with stunning views of the West Webburn valley, lawn, patio, flower beds and good quality teak furniture.
Additional information: Price includes good quality linen and towels, a basket of logs, electricity, a full concierge service and a welcome pack on arrival. Children of all ages are welcome but unfortunately pets or smoking indoors cannot be accommodated. The owners are flexible regarding changeover days. Parking is available on the quiet road outside the cottage.
