There is an adjoining bridlepath which provides access onto Dartmoor where there are miles of footpaths amongst beautiful scenery to enjoy.

Owls Roost is the first floor of a lovely barn conversion, once believed to have been the original house. It is located on the outskirts of Tavistock on the edge of the moor and within the Dartmoor National Park, and is approximately two miles from the town centre.

A short walk on an adjoining bridlepath takes you directly onto Cox Tor, which sits above Tavistock and offers fabulous views over the surrounding rolling countryside.

From Owls Roost you can walk for miles over Dartmoor and explore the many historic sites that this location has to offer. It is also situated on cycle path 27, on the National network of cycle paths, thus providing plenty of opportunity for those who want to explore the area by bike (if bringing a bike there is plenty of storage space for cycles or you can hire then locally).

Tavistock itself is approximately ten miles from Plymouth and forty miles from Exeter, affording good access via the M5 and A30. The town has lots of interesting history and lovely architecture and there are an excellent range of shops, with many interesting independent ones offering a wide variety of specialist goods. There is also a pannier market, which is open every day except Sunday and Monday, where you can browse around and pick up lots of locally grown and crafted produce; along with an antique market most weeks.

The Town Hall is a regular venue for craft and antique fairs and has a variety of events. You will also be spoilt for choice with a wide selection of great places to eat, either in the town, or in the pubs in the nearby villages.

Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, Tavistock is an ideal location for those who enjoy walking, fishing, cycling, horse riding and golf, in a scenic rural area with many facilities and activities within easy travelling distance. It is also perfect to use as a touring base with a variety of interesting and varied attractions being easily accessible.

Here the landscape is diverse with the beautiful wilds of Dartmoor on the doorstep and the coastline being within easy reach. Bordering Cornwall and popular attractions such as the Eden Project are only one hour away and provide great days out.

Thank you Caroline and Nick for a wonderful week here at Owls Roost. Your warm, friendly, helpful welcome, coupled with this beautiful cottage to stay in, made a very special time for us, despite the weather. With the comfort of our surroundings and a log fire, we could forget the rain outside. All this plus Caroline's treatments, massage and reflexology - what more could we ask. Thank you we will definately be back. M & M Guildford, Surrey - Nov 2010

Thank you Caroline and Nick for a wonderful holiday. We couldn't have been happier unless we could have stayed longer and the sun had shone a little more often. We have been staying on Datmoor for over 25 years and Owls Roost is by far the best place we have ever stayed. You have created a home for couples who like a quality quiet retreat. Thank you Caroline for the treatments, we were amazed and heartened by the results. We must tear ourselves away to return home and look forward to seeing you again before too long - if you have any vacancies !! M & C Kent - Sept 2010
