Cobweb Cottage

Cobweb is a stylish holiday cottage, or romantic getaway, in a wonderful riverside location, providing comfortable self-catering accommodation for two guests (kingsize double).

Situated on the Devon bank of the beautiful River Tamar, it is two miles from the village of Bere Alston, and eight miles from the historic and charming town of Tavistock, with its pannier market, independent shops, restaurants, pubs, sports facilities and arts venues. The cottage is also perfect for enjoying the Dartmoor National Park, which is just six miles away and offers 365 square miles of awesome wilderness. There are many lovely villages and excellent country pubs across Dartmoor, and the extensive moorland is ideal for walking, wildlife-watching, fishing, climbing, cycling and other outward-bounds activities.

Cobweb Cottage, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Site of Special Scientific Interest, is 20-mins by train and 40-mins by car to Plymouth city centre. The nearest station is Bere Ferrers, two and a half miles from the cottage. On your doorstep you can explore the tranquil riverside scenery, historic buildings, mining heritage and famous gardens of the renowned Tamar valley and Bere peninsula, while a 60-minute drive can take you to the Eden Project or the spectacular north Cornwall coast, with its beautiful sandy beaches and fine surf. Alternatively, you could visit the quaint fishing villages in south-east Cornwall or the much-loved coast and countryside of the South Hams of Devon. Golf can be played at Tavistock (two 18-hole courses) or on the championship course at St Mellion (25-mins).

Guests have their own slate patio, plus the use of a sitting/picnic area with a stunning outlook onto the river. The Plough Inn, Bere Ferrers, is a good, riverside pub at just under three miles away. Bere Alston has a post office, pub, garage, two mini-markets, butcher’s, chemist, hairdresser, fish-and-chip shop and a second-hand bookstore like no other!
