Barnwell Farm Cottages are located in the heart of the Ards Peninsula, off a quiet country road and just one mile from Strangford Lough and two miles from the Irish Sea coast with a choice of beautiful beaches.
The location is surrounded by farmland and unspoilt countryside providing a peaceful and relaxing retreat that is protected from the noise and bustle of everyday life.
The original farmstead was built over 200 years ago and today the farmhouse and courtyard have been sympathetically restored to provide seven self catering holiday cottages that each accommodate between three and seven guests. The cottages can also be rented together to accommodate larger parties of up to thirty four, making them an ideal venue for celebrating a special occasion or a function/conference.
The use of traditional materials and clever design have helped to preserve the original character and captured the true atmosphere of a rural country cottage. This, along with the high standard of furnishings and facilities, reflects their five Star Rating. The proprietors aim is to provide home-from-home comfortable accommodation with tailor made arrangements by prior request - these include accommodating both your horse or dog (in outside kennel).
There are numerous outdoor pursuits to enjoy in this beautiful area. If you enjoy walking and cycling you will enjoy exploring the quiet country roads of the Ards Peninsula and it is ideal for rambling with breathtaking scenery both inland and of the Irish Sea coast.
The cottages are located just one mile from Strangford Lough which is one of the most celebrated wild bird sanctuaries in Europe. Both fresh water fishing and sea angling can be arranged locally and Ballygrangee Fishery (four miles away) is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout (Fly fishing rods are available for hire).
The owners are able to offer stabling and grazing so you can bring your own horse and take part in many of the local equestrian events and if you enjoy golf, there are five 18 hole golf courses within an eight mile radius.

With seven self catering holiday cottages to choose from there is bound to be a cottage at Barnwell Farm to suit most peoples needs.
Facilities include: fully equipped laundry (a communal facility); free Wi-Fi; large games/function room with facilities to suit all ages (including pool, table tennis and air hockey); individual patio areas with patio furniture and gas barbeques; digital satellite television and video; CD/radio; mobile phones; dishwashers and microwave ovens.
All of the cottages are equipped and furnished to a high standard of comfort and style and with the exception of one cottage (Whin Cottage), all have traditional wood burning stoves - providing a lovely cosy atmosphere on those more chilly nights.

Barley Cottage - a quaint country cottage that sleeps up to five guests (£396-£490 per week).
Brooks Cottage - one of the largest cottages comfortably accommodating up to six guests (£449-£560 per week).
Clover Cottage - a perfect quaint hideaway for up to four guests (£308-£424 per week).
Corn Cottage - a rustic farmhouse accommodating up to five guests (£396-£490 per week).
Elm Cottage - the largest of them all accommodating up to seven guests (£512-£620 per week).
Flax Cottage - a charming cosy cottage accommodating up to three guests in two bedrooms (£273-£380 per week).
Whin Cottage - with single storey format, this cottage has been cleverley designed with the elderly and disabled (accompanied by able-bodied) in mind. A bright cosy cottage sleeping up to four guests (£308-£424 per week).
Additional information: Washing machines and tumble dryers are located in the on-site laundry. There is one cottage that is suitable for people with limited mobility - please speak to the owner regarding Whin Cottage's facilities to check that it is suitable and meets your personal needs both inside and out. Pets are not allowed in the cottages but there are onside kennel facilities available. Grazing and livery are offered for horses. Flexible changeover day offered. Prices include: linen, towels, heating (inc logs for the fire) and electricity. A complimentary "Starter Pack" is provided in all cottages and should you require a laundry service, contact the owners to make arrangements.
