A lovely holiday retreat within the conservation village of Alvescot near Burford in the Cotswolds. Originally part of the stables to Greystones House, the cottage was converted in the 80's along with four others and now makes a cosy holiday cottage for up to four people.
Alvescot is a small village south of Burford with easy access to the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire. Alvescot is mentioned in the Domesday book and derives its name from St Elfege.
There is a very popular village pub, The Plough, which is listed in the Good Pub Guide and provides a good range of food and beers. Within a five mile radius there are numerous pubs and restaurants.
The River Thames is within easy reach and a variety of boats can be hired from Lechlade.
The location offers easy access to the cities of Oxford and Gloucester and towns of Witney, Burford, Lechlade, Cirencester and Cheltenham.
