Bell House Apartment (One) - Self catering holiday cottage in Stroud, Gloucestershire, The Cotswolds, England - Sleeps 5
Bell House Apartment is a new holiday apartment, conveniently located in the eclectic town of Stroud and just a short walk to Waitrose, canal walks, cafe's, restaurants, pubs, shops and the mainline rail station to London. Formerly a coaching inn, this substantial character apartment provides first floor canal side, accommodation for up to five guests and is ideal as a base for walking holidays or touring the Cotswolds. There are two large bedrooms, one triple room that may be presented as three single beds, or a superking plus a single. The second bedroom can be made up as either a twin, single or superking. There is one shower room and an open plan living room with fully equipped kitchen and table with seating up for to eight guests.
From Bell House Apartment it is a five minute drive (or a healthy walk uphill!) to the Commons with some of the most beautiful National Trust managed common land in the country, with outstanding and far reaching views over the Cotswolds and towards the Severn Estuary and Wales beyond. Horses and cattle can be seen roaming freely across the Commons, and the grassland slopes are home to wildflower species (including thirteen species of orchid) and rare butterfly. The Commons villages of Minchinhampton, Box and Amberley provide local award winning combinations of fine dining and real ale pubs and there are more restaurants and inns dotted across the Commons. Winstone's Ice Cream Factory Shop near The Bear at Rodborough provides a convenient place to stop for a refreshing treat on a hot summer's day whilst taking in the wonderful views over the Golden Valley.
The Cotswolds has many popular attractions but here are a few of the more unique experiences that can be enjoyed from just across the road, up to within a thirty minute drive: local canal restoration, history in the making; Bibury's Arlington Row, its origins dating from 1380, found in 'the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds' William Morris; take a trial flight in a glider, an adventurous way to take in the stunning local views; Hetty Pegler's Tump, part of the Cotswold's Neolithic history; the Severn Bore, a 'spectacular natural phenomena' and so much more.
Bell House Apartment provides a perfect base for visits throughout the region including the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham, and historic Gloucester, Cirencester, Oxford, Bristol and Stratford-upon-Avon, to name just a few. There are a wealth of places to visit and cultural activities, including the National Westonbirt Arboretum and Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, along with diverse shopping opportunities, from specialist boutiques and designer outlet to world class antiques.
There are also plenty of pretty villages and historic towns to visit, providing a great selection of places to eat. This wonderful area has something for everyone...
