The Linney and The Tallet

Sydenham Farm Cottages offers four tastefully newly renovated holiday barns that are located on a non-working farm between the lovely Cotswolds villages of Broadwell (one mile) and Oddington (just over one mile). They are also just a short distance from the popular historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold (just over two and a half miles).

These fantastic honey coloured stone barn conversions are in the heart of the Cotswolds and offer a truly peaceful retreat, accessed along a sweeping driveway and set amongst beautiful countryside. Each barn benefits from having its own outside area where you can relax and dine al fresco or enjoy a cup of coffee in the sunshine. There is plenty of room for the children to let off steam, along with plenty of parking.

With a choice of four cottages, there is something to suit parties of two to five guests individually or larger parties of up to fifteen to seventeen if all cottages are hired at the same time (the maximum that can dine together in any one cottage is six or possibly ten if a table is carried through to the barn. The Tallet (sleeps four guests) and The Linney (sleeps two) rent well together for parties of six or separately and are both in one barn. They have been designed as a downstairs one bed conversion (The Linney) and an upstairs loft style conversion (The Tallet) and are both entered through a lovely glazed door into a large 'communal' area with flag stone flooring, huge rug, heating, plenty of coat hooks and room for the wellies. However, both properties have their own lockable front door so are equally suitable as individual holiday lets.

Sydenham Farm Cottages provides the perfect base from which to explore the Cotswolds either by foot or by car. Stow-on-the-Wold is only a short drive away with its shops, pubs, restaurants, bistros, deli, butcher, fashion boutiques, bakers, organic shop, chocolate shop and a Tesco on the outskirts of the town. The quintessential English villages of Kingham, Bledington, The Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water and The Swells are a short distance away and Broadway and Chipping Campden are too within easy reach - all regarded as some of the prettiest chocolate box village locations in the country!

Cheltenham and Oxford are within an hour where you can absorb some culture with the literary and jazz festivals, a theatre production or live screenings of opera from New York. The beautiful City of Bath also makes a fantastic day out, with its stunning architecture and Roman Spa Thermae. Another great adventure for the day, is to have morning coffee in Cirencester and head onto Tetbury for lunch and a stroll around, followed by a visit to Westonbirt Arboretum. Stratford-upon-Avon is just forty minutes by car with its great shops, restaurants and the wonderful new Shakespeare theatre. You can also visit many beautiful National Trust properties and gardens including Hidcote Manor, Blenheim Palace, Sudely Castle, Sherborne Estate, Chastleton House, Snowshill Manor and many more!

The Tallet and The Linney are around the corner from The Old Stables and The Old Barn and rent well separately for couples and groups of four or together for six guests with a good degree of personal space.

The Tallet sleeps four guests and you enter through the front door and straight up the stairs into the lovely loft style living area. This area has a good number of windows and is well lit. It also has exposed limed beams which provide a unique feature. There is a sofa and an arm chair, a charming window seat and a good size dining table with chairs. The well equipped kitchen has a microwave, oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Through the living area is the family bathroom with a window and shower over the bath.

There is an open mezzanine level above the sitting room which provides a twin room (with curtains for privacy) where the beds can be pushed together if needed. This area is rather dramatic within the ceiling eaves with exposed limed beams and huge windows with far reaching views. The impressive master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, exposed limed beams, fitted tongue and groove painted wardrobes and a double bed. Again this room is light and airy due to the big Velux windows.

The Tallet has a fantastic enclosed outside private court yard with seating which is accessed back down the stairs and through the communal hall. It is spacious in size and a real suntrap making it perfect for barbecues.

This conversion is a fantastic holiday home with dramatic features and character. It would also work well for a family who would like parents to holiday with them but prefer some personal space and peace and quiet by staying in The Linney!

The Linney sleeps two guests. You step through the door into an inviting living area with comfortable seating, television (with Freeview and built-in DVD player where you can play CD's) and glazed double doors leading out onto the enclosed, private and generously sized court yard.

There is a well-equipped open kitchen with microwave, oven, hob, slim-line dishwasher and washing machine, where you can prepare a delicious supper. There is also a table and chairs in the living area to sit and enjoy a romantic meal whilst discussing the days adventures.

The bedroom is light and airy with a double bed, fitted painted wardrobes and a large window looking out over your private courtyard. The shower room has a good corner electric shower and is neutrally tiled.

With exposed limed beams, natural light and a good practical layout, this ground floor holiday home perfectly combines character and charm with modern conveniences to ensure your holiday is relaxing and enjoyable.

Reviews and Testimonials for The Linney and The Tallet

Looks like we're the first ones here! What a great little cottage, very homely and welcoming. Loved the suntrap garden and bird life. Lots to see in the area. Recommend the views from top of Broadway Tower. Many thanks
