Cotswold Cottage, is a Grade II listed holiday cottage which dates back to 1682 and still retains lots of lovely original character with working inglenook fireplace, original beams and a good sized private walled garden, making it perfect for a holiday or short break all year around.
It is located in the centre of Minchinhampton near to ancient National Trust common land and the cottage is renowned locally for its variety of carved stonework which is evident both internally and externally.
There are many stunning walks from the front door over the National Trust commons with their unique plants and wildlife where you can even take a rest and sample the local award winning ice creams! The surrounding areas also offers an array of public footpaths including the Cotswold Way which is also within easy reach.
There is a choice of ancient and new golf courses in the local vicinity and Gatcombe Park, home of Princess Anne, is situated just along the road where regular events such as the Gatcombe Horse Trials, craft fairs and more recently, concerts are held.
Within the old town centre of Minchinhampton itself, which received it’s charter in the year 1213, there are a variety of shops including grocery store, and post office together with restaurants, coffee shops, takeaway and a public house.
Activities taking place throughout the year in the surrounding area include Woolsack races in Tetbury, Cheese Rolling at Coopers Hill and the more notable Cheltenham Gold Cup, Literary and Music Festivals.
For environmental activities Westonbirt Arboretum and Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust are a twenty minute drive away as is the Cotswold Water park. The nearest main town is Stroud (approximately four miles) whilst Cirencester, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon and Bristol are all within a twenty five mile radius. This gives scope for visiting museums, seeing shows and shopping both in city centres and at designer shopping outlets and malls.
