Castle Hill Barn is an idyllic rural retreat that is located in twenty six acres of unspoilt rolling countryside in the Cotswold Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Formerly an 18th century barn, the upper floor has been tastefully converted into a fully-furnished three bedroom holiday cottage that can accommodate up to five guests. Nestling in an enviable hillside position overlooking the Stour Valley, its location commands wonderful views over Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.
Located on the slopes of the North Cotswolds, Castle Hill Barn sits in the "golden triangle" - just ten minutes drive from Chipping Campden and fifteen minutes from both Moreton-in-Marsh and Stratford-upon-Avon. The location is an ideal base from which to explore the many local attractions that the area has to offer along with the cultural delights of Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon as well as the beautiful scenery of the Cotswold Hills.
Castle Hill barn is situated a mile outside the beautiful undiscovered North Cotswold village of Ilmington with its charming Cotswold stone cottages, 12th century village church, village store and two very good pubs, including the Warwickshire Dining Pub of the Year, 2010.
The nearest town is the delightful little town of Shipston-on-Stour, just three miles away which offers a good choice of shops and restaurants. The surrounding area to Castle Hill Barn is very popular with walkers, with the Heart of England Way, the Cotswold Way, the Diamond Way, the Monarch's Way and the Centenary Way all nearby. The area is also very popular for cycling with its quiet country lanes.
There are plenty of interesting places to visit and things to do locally to suit all ages. Shakespeare's Birthplace Museum is nine miles away in Stratford-upon-Avon, which also offers good shopping, lots of restaurants and many other touristy things to do including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and relaxing pleasure cruises along the river. Warwick Castle is also a popular attraction and one of the most impressive castles in England. The Cotswolds Farm Park (as seen on the television) is not far away and particularly popular with children (and people with an interest in animals, specialising in rare breeds). The pretty town of Bourton-on-the-Water (often described as the 'Little Venice' of the Cotswolds) with its Birdland, Model Village, shops and cafes is also nearby as is the picturesque village of Chipping Campden and historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
