The Stable provides an ideal peaceful countryside retreat for couples who want to visit Cornwall and explore its wonderful coastline and attractions. The cottage is located at Higher Trefrize, far away from any main road, on a hillside overlooking beautiful rolling Cornish countryside, with the owner's home nearby.
Here you can watch the stars at night and enjoy the lack of light pollution with no street lights! There'll be a bottle of wine or cream tea (your choice) awaiting your arrival and the only sounds you will hear are countryside sounds as you watch one of the wonderful sunsets from the veranda.
Stable Cottage is perfectly situated in the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the historic Bodmin Moor which is rich in history and myth, where you can see ponies roam freely. The cottage is located beside a little used footpath which provides access to ancient woodland and a field that has recently been planted with 2,000 broadleaf trees. The land has never been ploughed so there are numerous wild flowers, providing a haven for wildlife including foxes, buzzards, deer and owls.
A short car ride across the Tamar river takes you into Devon, providing easy access to both the ancient Devon town of Tavistock and the city of Plymouth. To the South, and within easy reach by car, you have Cornwall's South Coast with its pretty fishing villages, little coves and numerous gardens to visit. Heading North takes you to the rugged North Cornwall coastline with its miles of sandy beaches which are fantastic for surfing the waves coming in from the Atlantic ocean.
Locally, the rivers provide great opportunities for those who enjoy outdoor activities including sailing, boat trips, canoeing, fishing and riverside walks. Siblyback Lake also offers water sports with sailing and windsurfing, along with nice walks. Step back in time and visit Morwellham Quay, a living museum complex and original copper mine and if industrial heritage is of interest, Dingles Steam Village and Launceston Steam Railway provide some interesting days out. Stop off at Cotehele House, one of the National Trusts most spectacular gardens with lovely views across the Tamar Valley. If golf is your passion, St Mellion Golf and Country Club is a short drive away, as is Launceston, Trethorne and Tavistock golf courses.
The nearest towns to the cottage are Callington, Launceston and Liskeard which offer convenient shopping. Walks locally are plentiful and wild life is abundant. If you are keen on bird watching or simply enjoy nature then The Stable is a great place to take it in.
This is an ideal location for visiting the many attractions and places of interest the area has to offer including: Eden Project; Lost Gardens of Helligan; The Barbican; National Marine Aquarium Plymouth; Sterts Theatre; Kit Hill; Morwellham Quay; Caradon Hill; Goonhilly Earth Station; Saltram House; Trebah Gardens; Lanhydrock and many more!
There's an incredible range of things to see and do, or alternatively just bring a good book, light the wood burner and sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
