Mellon Farm is home to Meadowside a detached converted barn offering self catering accommodation in a secluded, private and peaceful setting within the beautiful rugged, unspoilt landscape of Bodmin Moor which also benefits from direct level access onto open moorland.
The farm is approached from a quiet moorland lane along a private drive to a small courtyard to where the holiday cottage is situated close to the owner’s farmhouse but well separated by a variety of trees and shrubs ensuring privacy and set within its own private garden with garden furniture and spacious parking.
Nestling in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the western edge of Bodmin Moor this holiday cottage provides the ideal place for couples or families who are wishing to escape the pressures of everyday life within a beautiful tranquil setting. The area is also listed an Area of Great Historic and Scientific Value being on the edge of Treswallock Down and a registered site of SSSI. It is also a haven for wildlife and a variety of flora and offers the opportunity to enjoy these close to nature experiences in a remote but not isolated location.
Ideally located with direct access onto Bodmin Moor there are excellent walking opportunities across open moorland. Footpaths, historic stone hedges and granite stiles traverse peaceful lanes and meadows onto ancient tracks to the upland moor where Cornwall’s two highest tors Brown Willy and Rough tor can be walked to – ponies, sheep and cattle are often your only companions!
The area has much to offer people with archaeological interest. Many remains of prehistoric man can be explored within walking distance – Stone circles, King Arthur’s Hall and Middle Moor Cross to name just a few.
There are also great opportunities for those who enjoy cycling with The Cornish Way (National Cycle Route 3) passing the farm, south to join The Camel Trail (4 miles) or North to Bude via Camelford. The Camel Trail is an 18 mile traffic free recreational route which takes you along the beautiful River Camel Valley to the Atlantic Sea at Padstow.
Mellon Farm is approximately 6 miles from the A30 and 9 miles from the beautiful dramatic North Coast with sandy, surfing beaches and breathtaking coastal walks. The nearest beaches are Trebarwith Strand, Polzeath and Daymar Bay all within 15 miles. The popular fishing villages of Padstow, Port Isaac, Boscastle and the quest for King Arthur at Tintagel are all within a short drive.
Local activities include pony trekking, indoor swimming pool, coarse and fly fishing. For those wishing to travel further afield, the historic homes of Pencarrow, Lanhydrock (National trust), Prideaux Place (Padstow) and The Eden Project are within easy reach.
St Breward is the nearest village to the farm just 2 miles away. It offers a shop, post office/newsagents/internet cafe, Norman Church and The Old Inn Pub with restaurant. Blisland is 4 miles and is a pretty village with a good pub serving a vast selection of real ales and a restaurant.

Our first visit to Meadowside, will certainly not be the last. Beautiful cottage, extremely well equipped. A proper home from home with every comfort imaginable. The cottage itself like a new pin. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Hope to see you again soon! May 2010

We've had a very happy week at Mellon Farm. What a wonderful cottage so well equipped & spotlessly clean. There are so many small extras that make this a warm and welcoming home from home. We even welcomed one wet day - an excuse to light the fire!! 4th - 11th September 2010
Our 3rd visit this year We never tire of this lovely environment. Cottage immaculately clean and tidy as usual. This is definately the best place for a break with peace, tranquility and relaxation. Looking forward to the next time already. 2nd - 9th Oct 2010
Lovely cottage in an amazing location. Walked from here over Roughtor to the top of Brown Willy onto King Arthurs Hall and back again. Spent the rest of the evening relaxing in front of the log fire. Thank you for your hospitality and not to forget the lovely lemon cake. Nov 2010
