Cob Cottage is one of two delightful holiday cottages located at Higher Tregidden. Sitting amongst rolling countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cob Cottage provides the perfect base from which to explore South West Cornwall.
Set in a secluded valley on the Lizard Peninsula, to the South of the Helford River, this is an ideal place to escape to, for a relaxing holiday. The Lizard Peninsula is truly unique and a mysterious and magical place where a dramatic coastline with beautiful sandy beaches and interesting rocky coves edge the rural landscape.
Cob Cottage provides the perfect retreat for visiting the many tourist attractions that Cornwall has to offer. These include the Eden Project, Tate St. Ives, National Maritime Museum and magnificent gardens such as Trebah and Glendurgan to name just a few.
The cottages at Higher Tregidden were once part of Lord Falmouth’s estate, and are traditionally built Cornish farm buildings, converted to provide very comfortable holiday accommodation whilst still retaining much of their original charm and character. They are surrounded by seven acres of meadow, woodland and orchard which guests are welcome to explore and enjoy – all quietly tucked away down a private lane.
Being positioned at the most southerly point of mainland Britain, the Lizard Peninsula enjoys a milder climate thanks to the Gulf Stream, extending the summer months nicely into Spring and Autumn. Beaches are among some of the country's finest with pale coloured sand and crystal clear waters, and the landscape is varied with dramatic cliffs, contrasting against the softer, greener landscape of the Helford River. Picture book villages and fishing harbours add to the interest of this beautiful landscape and provide visitors with a taste of the unchanging ’off the beaten track’ Cornwall.
The Helford River is truly magical - a lush wooded world of creeks and inlets; and riverside villages and sub-tropical gardens, just waiting to be explored on foot or by boat.
There are plenty of activities to enjoy if you are not content with simply relaxing. Helford River, Gillan Creek and the Bay provide excellent boating, sailing and water sports opportunities and for those who enjoy walking, the South West Coastal Path winds around the entire Peninsula providing fantastic walking for all ages and abilities.
