A warm welcome awaits you at Garden Cottage, a delightful retreat tucked away in the heart of historic Bodmin town centre. Recently updated and redecorated, the cottage sleeps two adults in a double room, plus two smaller people in bunk beds in the second bedroom.
Garden Cottage is a perfect base for exploring Cornwall, whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or an easy family break. The owners believe they have thought of everything you’ll need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday!
Although hidden in a secluded location, Garden Cottage is easily accessible, with everything on your doorstep. Bodmin’s shops, pubs, eateries, tourist information centre and Town Museum, and the Town Park with children’s playground and skate park are within five minutes walk.
The Beacon nature reserve - perfect for picnics and kite flying, the Steam Railway, historic Bodmin Jail, Military Museum and the Camel Trail for cycling and walking are all within fifteen minutes walk. So park that car and relax - there’s plenty to do. Within just a five minute car drive away is Lanhydrock Golf Club, and beautiful Lanhydrock House, a fantastic National Trust property and possibly one of the best in England.
The quirky Trago Mills shopping experience is only a ten minute drive away. It’s an amazing place selling everything from plumbing pipes to designer branded clothing, all at mad prices. Definitely worth a trip to fulfill all those shopping urges - there’s no where else like it!
Are you a sporty type? Garden Cottage is ideally situated for cycling the Camel Trail to Wadebridge and Padstow, sailing in stunning Fowey, Fishing from Mevagissey, Pony trekking on Bodmin Moor, walking the Saints Way or Coastal paths, or golfing at one of the numerous local courses. If surfing is your bag then take your pick from all those fantastic North Coast beaches: none are more than thirty minutes drive away.
Art and Culture more your thing? You must visit Tate St Ives; explore all the studios in St Ives and Penzance; catch a show by Kneehigh or Miracle Theatre companies; see a local band at Carnglaze Caverns, or a national show on tour at Hall for Cornwall Truro Or Theatre Royal Plymouth or even a quality local show at Sterts Theatre up on the moor.
Love Gardens and historic houses? There’s loads - the famous Eden Project is a must, plus the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhayes Estate, Trelissick, Lanhydrock, and too many others to mention.
Children to entertain? On sunny days there’s nothing better (or cheaper!) than playing on the beach, most of the best ones being less than thirty minutes drive away. Dodgy weather? The Tourist info centre just opposite the house has a spooky dungeon to explore, plus an interactive courtroom trial reenactment. Eden is great for kids, as is the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, The Sealife Centre in Plymouth, Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Paradise Park, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, the Monkey Sanctuary at Looe: the list goes on!
Mad on shops and lovely towns and cities? Nearby Fowey, Padstow, Wadebridge, and Newquay are all full of interesting shops and lovely restaurants. The bigger towns of Truro, Plymouth, Falmouth and St Ives are great for days out, and even Exeter is only an hour away.
Not bringing a car? Bodmin Parkway Station is a short taxi or bus ride away, or we can collect you with prior arrangement. The National Express Coach stops five mins walk away, and all the bus stops with links to most places in Cornwall are right out side the Cottage’s private access to the street. The lovely ladies over the road in the Tourist Info Centre will tell you all you need to know.
