Standing Stone Cottage - Self catering holiday cottage in Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales - Sleeps 4

Standing Stone Cottage

Standing Stone Cottage is one of two cottages converted from 18th century stone and slate barns. They are set in a picturesque farmyard setting and surrounded by 30 acres of farmland in the beautiful rolling Carmarthenshire hills.

On the farm there is plenty to do and see: why not enjoy a picnic in one of the fields, by the ponds or in the woods; take a walk in 30 acres of fields with ponds, hedgerows and orchards where you will see many different birds and wildlife; explore the woodland walk; take a farm tour and meet the animals, including ducks, goats, chickens and sheep or find the ancient standing stone in the small orchard close by.

The cottages offer stylish and comfortable accommodation and are ideal for those in search of a peaceful and rural holiday. Within easy reach are the excellent beaches of the Cardigan coastline and Brechfa Forest, which is ideal for walking and cycling.

Known as the ‘Garden of Wales’ Carmarthenshire offers some superb public gardens. The National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney and Cae Hir are all within a half hour drive of the cottages. Numerous medieval castles and forts are also within easy reach.

This working small holding has a variety of animals for you to enjoy. A woodland walk, picnic area and a number of ponds can also be enjoyed on the farm. If you want to truly relax and have a break from cooking, home cooked evening meals are available for you to have in your cottage by arrangement with the owner and they often include home grown/reared or local produce.

Reviews and Testimonials for Standing Stone Cottage

"Thank you so much again Mark and Michael. We have enjoyed this blissful cottage as much as ever. The children are older now and have loved it even more - feeding the goats and pig have been real highlights. Your cooking is amazing and the stunning countryside truely restorative. Thank you, thank you"

"We could write a book on how lovely this is, everything is perfect. We brought so much stuff to have home from home and didn't need any of it. When we come back it will be like coming home. I feel I have made a good friend with Mark, I will miss him. Thank you both very much."

"This is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. It was immaculate and the owners have thought of everything. We received such a warm welcome and nothing during the holiday was too much trouble. The farm is in a beautiful location, even the rain could not spoil it for us. There’s plenty to do and plenty of places to visit. Marks cooking is divine, the homemade cakes being particularly scrummy. We would definitely like to go back, there is so much more we haven’t seen. Very friendly, very clean, wonderful hosts all in a beautiful setting. Top marks!"

"A fantastic property and the owner is an amazing host, he’s willing to take you around the farm and never tired of our children asking questions all of the time. His home cooked meals were really good value for money and tasted better than most restaurants weve been to. One of the best properties weve stayed in"
