Marchburn is a traditional country cottage, nestling in the heart of Glen Clova, one of the most beautiful Glens in Angus within the Cairngorms National Park. Set in an acre and a half of grounds with the March Burn bordering the northern boundary.
The Glen offers superb varied walks to suit all abilities. Keen bird watchers will be enthralled by the number of species enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this nature reserve along with the other wildlife of the Glen, herds of red deer can be spotted on the hill and golden eagles can be found further up the Glen. Fishing is available on the South Esk for brown trout, salmon and sea trout, permits are required and can be obtained from either the Clova Hotel or the local fishing club.
The Hotel (the 'local'!) is less than a mile away from Marchburn offering good lunches and evening meals.
For the keen golfer, courses suiting all levels can be found in Kirriemuir, Forfar, Rosemount and Blairgowrie.
Glen Clova backs onto the Balmoral estate. Glamis Castle, the former home of the Queen Mother is a short drive away, Braemar, Scone Palace, Glenshee, Glen Doll and the House of Dunn are all well worth visiting. The birthplace of J M Barrie, the author of 'Peter Pan' is at nearby Kirriemuir. Perth and Dundee are about an hour away and offer good shopping. The coast is a little further, but offers good restaurants for lunch and would make a good day trip out of the Glen.
The small town of Kirriemuir, a twenty minute drive, offers everyday facilities, with a supermarket and local butcher, baker etc.
