Dating back to the 16th Century, this detached four star farmhouse is surrounded by lovely open countryside and sits on the owners four hundred acre working family farm. Trowley Farmhouse offers spacious holiday accommodation for parties of up to sixteen, where you can enjoy wonderful extensive views over the Begwyn Hills and beyond to the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.
Trowley Farmhouse provides the opportunity to relax, unwind and explore this picturesque part of Wales, a beautiful region where you can enjoy traditional market towns, take in the scenery whilst driving along peaceful country lanes, walk along ancient pathways (including Offas Dyke) and return back at the end of the day to the comfort of a cosy home from home.
The scenery in this part of Wales is something truly special - beautiful rolling countryside all the way from the fantastic wide open spaces of the Brecon Beacons National Park in the south, to the dramatic wild beauty of the Berwyn Mountains in the north. From the farmhouse front door you can walk up through Trowley farmland onto the open fern and heather covered common, where you can enjoy the far reaching views over to Pen y Fan and the Black Mountains beyond.
There are numerous attractions in the area including pony trekking which can be enjoyed locally and fly fishing at the local trout pool. Book Buffs must visit Hay on Wye which is only six miles away and famed for its large selection of second hand bookshops. It is a delightful old market town with plenty of antique shops that can be found tucked away in its little streets. Adrenaline junkies should try white water rafting, kayaking or gorge walking or more sedate outdoor activities including rock climbing, mountain biking, clay shooting or canoeing. Alternatively, enjoy a high tea at Llangoed Hall and spoil yourself!
Painscastle is only one and a half miles away and has the remains of a Norman Castle, along with the local pub, the Roast Ox Inn serving excellent food. There is a community tennis court in Rhosgoch just three miles away and also a licensed golf course that serves bar meals. The historic cathedral town of Brecon is twenty miles away and is a delight to visit with its narrow streets and alleyways lined with Jacobean and Georgian shop fronts. The ancient market town of Builth Wells is twenty minutes by car where you will find old fashioned shops, a lovely golf course, fishing, the remains of Builth castle and the Royal Welsh Show in July.
With thick stone walls, oak beams and the original bread oven in the large farmhouse kitchen, this delightful holiday home retains much original character and provides comfortable holiday retreat for families and friends who want to get together at any time of the year.
