East Kames occupies a magnificent position overlooking Kames Bay which is close to the head of Loch Melfort. It has extensive grounds and a gate from the garden which provides direct access to the shore where you can relax and possibly see seals, cormorants and eider duck. This holiday cottage provides exceptionally comfortable four star self catering accommodation and a truly wonderful base from which to explore the Scottish West Highlands and Islands. Just a short walk down the road takes you to Arduaine Gardens. Go south and enjoy watching the boats using the Crinan Canal between the Sound of Jura and Loch Fyne or alternatively stop before you get there and step back in history at Kilmartin Glen. To the east is the aptly named Loch Awe or drive westwards across the Atlantic Ocean into the Isle of Seil. Oban, often referred to as the Gateway to the Isles because of the many ferry routes and day trips that originate from there is only twenty minutes drive to the north - The island of Mull and the ever popular Tobermory make excellent day trips. Argyll and The Isles make a wonderful place to spend a holiday for the scenery alone. This, coupled with an enormous variety of interesting places to see and things to do, ensures that not only is this an ideal place to have a relaxing holiday but it is also a great base for enjoying the all that the area has to offer. Whether you enjoy walking, golf, cycling, fishing, visiting gardens, watching the sea and loch life, exploring historic castles or horse riding, there is something in this delightful area for everyone to enjoy! |
