Aird Steading Cottage

Aird Steading Cottage is situated three miles from the small Scottish village of Ardfern, Argyll and is a traditional Scottish self catering holiday home set amongst some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland. It is part of Aird Farm and is situated at the end of Craignish Peninsula looking onto the islands of Jura, Scarba, Mull and Luing with a view of the Straits of Corryvrechyan which is the well known whirlpool between Jura and Scarba.

Aird Steading Cottage is run by the Campbell family who have been at Aird Farm since 1919. Aird Farm is a traditional hill farm of 1500 acres with sheep and cattle being the main enterprises. On the farm itself there are many walks with breath-taking views of the sound of Jura, Loch Craignish and Knapdale.

The village of Ardfern is a well known yachting haven and has a post office, the Crafty Kitchen offering a food cafe with a craft shop within. The local hotel, Galley of Lorne, offers a bar and evening meals in its restaurant. There is also a village shop. Nearby is the village of Craobh Haven with a pub, a seafood restaurant and water sports on offer.

The local horse riding centre, Ardfern Riding Centre, offers western riding, trekking and lessons on their own bred Appaloosa horses.

Mid Argyll is well known for its standing stones and Neolithic burial grounds with one being situated on Aird Farm itself. Kilmartin House museum in the village of Kilmartin, is a new archaeology centre which shows intriguing views of life in pre-historic Scotland.

Oban is twenty-seven miles with steamers.
